Thank You EVA's 2011 eNewsletter Sponsor!

MG

Dear EVA Supporters,

I would like to start out by thanking Mickey Dowd of Mickey's Roadside Cafe for sponsoring the St. Patrick's Day fundraiser. By donating $1 for every beer sold on March 17, he raised $128 for EVA.

Continuing with the theme to "keep the good things happening", we have a lot planned for the spring and summer, and I hope you will come out and join us.

The Design Committee, as part of our annual spring Green Up Day on May 21, has developed a Mother's Garden program where you can honor your Mother this Mother's Day.

The Economic Development Committee is busy with our monthly coffees and this month we have added a Business After Hours sponsored by the Mascoma Savings Bank and held at the Enfield Shaker Museum. The museum is donating the space for this event. If you are a Mascoma area business, you are invited.

The Events Committee and I are working on our annual Shaker 7 Road Race, which takes place on June 26. Last and most importantly, many EVA supporters are heavily involved with Enfield's 250th Anniversary Celebration the weekend of July 4.

For details on all these happenings and more, check out the sections below. And, if anyone knows of other events that we have not listed, please contact me for our next issue.

Have a great April!

Sincerely,

EVA Mother's Garden

Honor your Mother
 with a perrenial flower
in the EVA Mothers' Garden
in downtown Enfield!

The Design Committee is pleased to announce a Mother's Day opportunity.

Last fall, as part of the "Day of Caring", sponsored by United Way, EVA and several volunteers cleaned out a small overgrown area at the end of the Muncipal Parking Lot on Main Street across from the Copeland Block. This is where the garden will be located.

To participate, send in $20 with your name, address, phone number, email if you have one, and your Mother's name. We will send you back an acknowledgement card for your Mother before May 8.

Planting will begin on May 20. Once planted, the garden will be mulched with bark and have a pebble walk and a wooden bench. The wooden bench will be built and donated by Matthew McGonis, a local aspiring Eagle Scout.

If you have perrenials to donate to the garden, you can drop them off at the EVA office May 17 - 19 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Economic Development
EVA Co-sponsors First Monthly Business Coffee

Spearheaded by Jamie Whyte at the Mascoma Savings Bank and a member of EVA's Economic Development Committee, the Mascoma Savings Bank will host a "Business After Hours" on April 20 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Enfield Shaker Museum.

The program is designed to bring together all Mascoma area (Enfield, Canaan, Orange, Dorchester, Grafton and Mascoma) businesses to give individuals the opportunity to discuss and share ideas while learning about other local businesses. It is a relationship-building experience held in a relaxed setting that benefits business people and their companies through added contacts and resources.

To reserve a space, RSVP today! Contacts: Jamie Whyte at the Enfield MSB Branch (603) 443-8741 or Sadie McKinney at the Canaan Branch (603) 443-8731.

Organized by EVA as our signature annual fundraiser, this year's 7-mile course will start (and finish) at the Enfield Shaker Recreation Park on NH Route 4A in Enfield.

Because the Shaker Bridge over Mascoma Lake in Enfield is being replaced and will be under construction this summer, the road race will have an alternate route along NH Route 4A to Shaker Boulevard and back.

There will be water stops along the race route with water and oranges at the finish line and a free brunch for all runners and volunteers at the end of the race.

There will also be:

  • Free T-shirts for all pre-registered runners and volunteers
  • Prizes for 1st and 2nd in all categories
  • Random drawings for prizes

Granite State Race Services will be on site for timing.
