Dear EVA Supporters,
It has been a busy
fall and thus I am
once again combining
two months in one.
When I communicated
in mid September, I
was just finishing
up my first year
with EVA and was
working on getting
our Annual Appeal
letters out and
planning for my
first Annual
Meeting.
The response to our
Annual Appeal has
been terrific. We
set our goal at
$15,000 and as of
today we have
received $10,525. I
hope those of you
who have not yet
responded think of
EVA as you close out
the year and make
contributions to
local nonprofits.
Without your
support, we cannot
exist.
Our 2011 Annual
Meeting was a great
success. We had
nearly 40 attendees
downstairs in the
Copeland Block who
met and learned what
EVA has been up to
this past year. They
heard our plans for
the future and got
to meet our newest
board members. I
will introduce them
to you below. Lee
Carrier stepped down
from the presidency,
but he assures us
that between
spending time on the
lake with Pat and
his family,
woodworking and
globe trotting, he
will continue for a
while longer on the
board. Also, Lynne
Martel, our
long-time board
secretary has
retired from the EVA
Board after many
years with us. She
will be greatly
missed. We do hope
she will come out
and volunteer
occasionally.
We were also busy
with the Fall Green
Up. It was an
amazing day with
over 30 volunteers
who came from
throughout the Upper
Valley through
United Way's Day of
Caring. What a great
partnership to help
us keep the good
things happening in
our community.
There is so much to
report on. News from
our Enfield
community comes
across my desk
daily. For more on
what's been
happening in Enfield
check out the
articles below and
please forward to
anyone in town who
does not receive the
EVA eNews. We want
to ensure everyone
knows what is going
on, and if you have
any ideas to improve
EVA's eNews or our
website, please give
me a call at
632-7197 or better
yet, stop down on
any Tuesday,
Wednesday or
Thursday. I'm in
Suite 202 in the
Copeland Block. Out
my window I have an
incredible view of
the Mascoma River
that meanders
through town. It is
a great spot to
watch the seasons
pass.
Sincerely,
Dolores C. Struckhoff

At EVA's 2010 Annual Meeting
Executive Director Dolores
Struckhoff welcomed over 40 EVA
supporters. After Dolores' welcome,
Lee Carrier, President of EVA
announced that he will be stepping
down after several years as
President and that Harry Trumbull, a
long-time EVA board member, will
replace him as President.

Lee first became involved with EVA
in 2003 when he volunteered to strap
on a tool belt to do some demolition
and rebuilding on EVA's property at
78 Main Street. He became
Chairperson of the 78 Main Street
Committee to develop a strategy for
redevelopment and renovation of the
property. The key element was the
creatin of the Friends of 78 Main
Street program to recruit local
business people to donate time,
labor and materials for various
stages of the renovatins. In
addition, he was instrumental in
obtaining a $50,000 grant from the
NH Main Street program to support
our efforts. Additional grants were
awarded for a parking lot, the
bridge to the island on the
property, etc.
In 2006, Lee was nominated President
of EVA's board. In addition to Lee's
association with EVA, he served as
Chairman of the Enfield Budget
Committee from 2004 to 2009.
In addition to Lee being active with
EVA, his wife Pat has also been a
regular fixture volunteering in the
EVA office and at EVA events.
Also leaving EVA is Lynne
Martel, Secretary. Lynne is
another long-time EVA board
member.
Lynne frist became involved with
EVA as a member of the
Promotions Committee in 2002.
The Promotions Committee was
charged with organizing various
events with the intent to bring
people to Main Street, and in
some cases, to raise money for
EVA. Lynne also volunteered in
the office with a focus on
bookkeeping. In 2004, she joined
the board and in 2006, she
became Secretary, a position she
held until she retired from the
board.
Lee will continue on the board,
and we are hoping Lynne will
continue as a volunteer.

Enfield. She and her significant

of the Mascoma Lake Association
and President of the Enfield
Shaker Museum. He is married to
Meredith Smith, who is a juried
member of the League of New
Hampshire Craftsmen and Chairman
of the Enfield Heritage
Commission. Between them they
have seven children and twelve
grandchildren.
Jame Whyte

a Business Management degree
from Franklin Pierce University
and has worked at Mascoma
Savings Bank for 13 years. He is
currently the Enfield Branch
Manager. He is a member of the
Lebanon Rotary Club and Ducks
Unlimited.
After the new board
introductions, Dolores reviewed
what
EVA has accomplished in 2010 and
the process and schedule for
developing the 2011 operating
plan. At the end of the
update, Harry Trumbull
recognized Lee and Pat Carrier
and Lynne Martel for their years
of service to EVA. Following the
meeting, guests mingled and
enjoyed lights refreshments.

Enfield's Food Pantry
Mascoma Cooperative Preschool's
2nd Annual Community Food
Submitted by Shara Buffington
Area preschoolers from the
Mascoma Cooperative Preschool
wrapped up their second Annual
Community Food Drive Project on
November 17th. The three
and four year old children and
their families participated in
the food drive by bringing
non-perishable food and
household items to school each
day over a three-week period.
Upon their arrival they would
proudly put their donated items
into a wagon placed by the entry
way into the classroom.
This project provided a
wonderful opportunity for the
children to learn about what it
means to give something back to
the community and help out our
neighbors in need of food. They
are a curious bunch and asked
many questions about "where's it
going to go," "how will they get
the food" and "we're going to
walk there with the
food?" Unfortunately, due to
rainy weather, the children were
not able to walk to deliver the
food to the Enfield Food Pantry
as they did last year, but they
were able to assist in
presenting their mighty loads of
donations prior to loading it
into a parent's car to be
delivered.
Together with the assistance of
their families, the children of
the Mascoma Cooperative
Preschool collected two large
wagon loads of food and
household items for the Enfield
Food Pantry.

Over the holidays the Pantry is
looking for gift cards,
parishable items like meat,
milk, butter, eggs and bread.
This past week the pantry was
visited by five residents.

Comprehensive Online Event and
Resource Listing
for Familes in the Upper Valley
Upper Valley Connections is the
inspiration of Shara Buffington, a
local Mom who was determined to find
a more organized way of keeping
track of all the area events and
activities for the kids.
The site provides daily event
listings, a resource listing to
search for specific interests, and a
blog featuring special events,
updates and ideas of things to do
with children. A monthly eNewsletter
has recently been added to
compliment the site.
Her happy customers say the site "is
an invaluable resource for everyone
in the Upper Valley. With the click
of a mouse you can find out
everything that is going on in the
area on any given day."
Shara also believes EVA is a great
resource to find out all the
positive things going on in Enfield.
When asked her recommendatinos to
other businesses looking for space
in Enfield, she says "come out and
experience the Enfield community."
