Dear EVA Supporters:
The Holidays are upon us. By the time you receive this, Thanksgiving will have come and gone and the December holidays and the New Year will be fast approaching.
To celebrate the season, EVA will sponsor our annual Hometown Holidays in downtown Enfield on December 5th. This year we will have a full day of events for the young and young at heart. We have two new additions to Hometown Holidays this year. They are a Holiday Market at the Community Building and Wreath Decorating on the porch at 78 Main Street. The Holiday Market was created to support local artisans, craftsmen and businesses during the holiday season. I encourage everyone in town not only to support the Holiday Market but also to support other businesses in town during the holiday season. In the Business section below is an extensive list of local businesses where you can find an assortment of items for your holiday gift giving.
December is a busy month for EVA. On top of Hometown Holidays and planning for 2010, we have begun to work on Main Street beautification projects initiated in conjunction with Enfield's upcoming 250th Anniversary in 2011. You can read more about this under Association's News and soon you will see the results of our first project.
A happy belated Thanksgiving to all.
Sincerely,

Dolores Struckhoff

EVA's Main Street Task Force
Beautification Projects
The Main Street Task Force was created in August to idenitfy and manage new improvement opportunities on Main Street. In conjunction with the 250th Town Anniversary, several projects have been identified and work has already begun on one major improvement.
Working with Rick Barrows, Laundry Depot, and Richard Holmquist, Holmquist Furniture, EVA has begun work renovating the flag pole in the center of Main Street. The work includes replacing the existing cement circle with granite and adding granite steps and a cobblestone path to the flag pole. The flag pole will also be taken down, sand blasted and reinstalled. Solar lights will be added so the flag can remain up 24/7. We are hoping to have the work completed by the beginning of 2010.

EVA's Latest Fund Raiser
The purpose of this program is to raise funds to support maintenance and beautification projects on the Main Street and High Street bridges.

Design Committee Does it Again
Kissing Ball Work Day in Terri Lynch's Barn
For the second year in a row, the EVA Design Committee, spearheaded by Terri Lynch and Linda Zoller-McKibbin, has put up wreaths, kissing balls, garland and lights all along downtown Main Street. Terri got together a group earlier in the month to reconstruct the kissing balls and this past Sunday, November 29th, a team with ladders, jute, electrical tape and scissors got together to put decorations in place. After the project, everyone got together at Terri Lynch's house for a potluck luncheon.
EVA thanks the following volunteers who participated in both work days:
Tricia and Bob Barr
Anne and Richard Corr
Cathy Gasparik
Suzanne Hinman and her sister, Judy Golden
Nancy Laubenheimer
Terri and Bud Lynch
Dolores Struckhoff and John Kluge
Linda Zoller-McKibbin and Andy McKibbin
Cynthia Walthour
Take a drive down Main Street some evening after dusk and see how beautiful the decorations look.
78 Main Street
By Kim Quirk
The dig begins...
We have finally started the renovation of 78 Main Street. Since this is the future home of the Enfield Energy Emporium we have a goal to create a zero energy building. All the energy the building needs will be provided by renewable energy sources. Once the house is complete, we will have no on-going heating bills. We will not be burning any fossil fuels to help heat this house. Also, we will keep the 1850's historic look on the outside with the addition of solar panels on the roof. It will be a unique melding of historic and energy efficient. We (Kent and Kim Quirk) hope to take up residence in the upper floors and have a grand opening for the store next summer.
