Keep the good things happening...

Volume I, Issue 2

October 2009

Dear EVA Supporters:

It is difficult to believe I have been on board at EVA for over two months. Don Gamache said I would "hit the ground running" and I feel like I am ready for the Shaker 7.

Shortly after I started, Lee Carrier, our Board Chairman and President, convened a Task Force to work on Main Street beautification projects in conjunction with the upcoming 250th Town Anniversary in 2011. Our first initiative is to support beautification projects that improve Main Street and continue the revitalization of the downtown area. Our second initiative is to provide grants to substantially improve properties that are either commercial, residential or multi-use within the Main Street area. Our final initiative is to drive economic development and improve the economic vibrancy of Main Street and the rest of the community.

You will find news on some of our projects and ideas below and in future issues of the EVA ENEWS.

I am especially proud to have been able to work with the team who put together the upcoming 2010 Business and Services Directory which comes out later this fall as well as the support I was able to give to the Heritage Commission as they prepared a press release on their application to place Enfield Village on the National Historic Register. In my first two months, the partnering and collaboration with other Enfield organizations and businesses has been wonderful. As I move along, I look forward to working with other local organizations and other businesses in Enfield to keep the good things happening...

There is so much we can accomplish if we work together.

Sincerely,

Design Committee

Fall Green Up

The Design Committee hosted the first Fall Green Up on Main Street on October 10th.  Although attendance was low, the team picked up over 10 bags of trash, sorted it and delivered it to the Transfer Station. Thinking we might get a large turnout, we were able to get refreshment donations from Panera Bread in West Lebanon. We hardly made a dent in them and donated the left overs to David's House and The Lutheran Church. The team of "litter collectors" included Suzanne Hinman, Terri Lynch, Linda Zoller-McKibbin and our Selectman, John Kluge, who hauled all the litter to the Transfer Station and helped me sort it to the recycling containers.

Mums

A thank you goes out to Barbara Brady, June Marshall and Nancy Smith for placing the yellow mums on the end of Main Street and on the corner of Shaker Hill and Main Street. The white mums on the first bridge on Main Street and the other tri-colored barrels are compliments of EVA.
