2017 Annual Appeal

Dear Friends,

It has been a busy year at the Enfield Village Association!

We have successfully transitioned to a volunteer run office, supplemented with contracted services for specific projects.  Not having paid staff frees up financial resources for more program related activities.  We are very grateful to the dedicated volunteers who have stepped up to make this a success.

A big accomplishment this year was the publication of our Enfield Business Directory. We added 35 new businesses to the listings, for a total of 181 businesses offering goods and services in 88 categories.  Listings are free to all Enfield businesses. The directory is distributed at various locations around town, and is mailed to every postal patron in Enfield. Thanks to the work of our summer intern, Morgan Mills, the online version of the Directory is automatically updated as new businesses are added.

Our new Welcome Packet program has been well received.  Each packet includes a small gift bag with information about the Community, coupons from local businesses, and the Business Directory as a welcome gift for new residents. The packets are distributed by the Town Clerk’s office.

EVA’s Business Coffees and After Hours Events continue to be a popular venue for Enfield’s businesses, non-profits, and Town officials to gather for networking and impromptu discussions of topics of interest. Coffees are held on the fourth Friday of each month from 8-9am hosted at different venues.

The EVA Events Committee hosted Spring Green Up day to clean up the parade route and Main Street in advance of the Memorial Day Parade, along with the rail trail, Mascoma Lakeside Park and the town boat ramp. Volunteers enjoyed free pizza at 56 Main Street Bar and Grill after the work was done.

Our Shaker 7 road race was cancelled in 2017 due to the Mascoma Lakeside Park/Main Street construction.  We look forward to running the race in 2018.

The NH Highway crew did a wonderful job landscaping the Mascoma Lakeside Park as part of the rebuilding of the road through the rail trail underpass.  This access to the lake, rail trail and picnic tables has become very popular.

Special thanks to Nick Williams, who constructed an educational kiosk for the Lakeside Park as his Eagle Scout project!  Volunteers have already offered to provide information for the kiosk on lake stewardship, environmental issues and the Lakeside Park vision.

The Beautification Committee kept our gardens alive with color all summer along Main Street thanks to the generous donations of flower bulbs through EVA’s Flower Power fundraising event.  Countless volunteer hours also went into preparing the scarecrows for their Fall appearance, and soon the committee members will be hanging lights and garlands on Main Street lampposts for the holidays.

EVA’s annual Hometown Holidays family event is scheduled for Saturday, December 2nd at the Community Building.  Hay wagon rides and many other Holiday activities will entertain all the members of your family.  Hope you can join us!

In addition to our current projects, in 2018 we will work with our business community to study ways to improve parking and land use downtown, revive the Mascoma Riverwalk project and participate in town workshops for the Enfield Master Plan.

All this is possible only with your generous support of our Annual Appeal.  Your donation today will help keep EVA strong for the coming year.

THANK YOU!

Sincerely,

Kimberley Quirk, President
